Site Update

News

NewsOver the last few weeks, I’ve been tweaking some things here at How to Crush Without Being Crushed.

You may have noticed a new comment system in place. If you haven’t yet, pop over to your favorite post and let me know what you think of it (both the post and the comment system). I’m now using the Disqus comment system, a fully web-based one when it comes to identity control and comment tracking. It seems to be working well so far. Over the next year, I may deploy it on all of my sites… and suggest it to clients.

There’s also a new design in place. Something a little more pleasing to the eye and extensible than the stock theme I was running before (or the partially built fully custom one I was using before that). Now I’m using the Platform framework, a very nice modular system that lets you customize templates without touching any HTML or PHP. (A nice break from what I spend a lot of my time doing at my day job.) Even better, if you really like it, go buy yourself a copy by following that link–I’m part of their affiliate program and will get a nice cut of your purchase.

For a while, I’ve had a little “Sign Up” widget in the sidebar. That fed email addresses into a MailChimp database and, well, they just kind of sat there. Now I’ve got the mailing list all set to send out the latest posts once a week. So if you don’t want to have to drop by here all the time to see what’s new, you can have it delivered right to your inbox. (I’ve got an affiliate account there, too… so if you’re looking for a good place to go for your mass mailing needs, go and get a MailChimp account and we’ll both win.)

I’ve also been reading up and working through a number of business resources that I picked up a few weeks ago. Since most of them are about online business and not relationships or crushes, I won’t talk a lot about them here, you’ll just see the results. (But if you are interested, go and keep an eye on Durosia.com where I will be talking about a lot of business stuff.)

Finally, partially as a result of those new resources and partially because of plans already in place, you’ll soon see my first e-book available for purchase (and probably something smaller available for free). It’s going to be expanding on the themes of the recent series I’ve been posting about dealing with your negative self and the fear it uses as a weapon against you in your relationships.

Hope everyone’s been having a decent December so far… just a few weeks left until we close out 2010. It’s going to be wild.
